She Shall Not Grow Old….

My brother-in-law, my twin's husband adds another year to his life today and we are so very thankful that God has blessed him. Yes I say bless, even when we are still grieving an irreplaceable loss, bless because our lives are now richer because we were touched by Folashade's. I also know that he still mourns his mother's loss.

It is not too long ago we were all kids playing around in the little village, Abule-Oja in Nigeria where we grew up, riding our Raleigh bicycles the ones, Colonel Ogunkanmi gave us. My mother always complained about the safety of riding in the area and always attempted to hide them. We also enjoyed and looked forward to our visits to the University of Lagos campus to see old friends and neighbours, it was bliss and we never imagined we would grow old.

When we were younger, my twin and I shared so many things together, but the fact of life meant as we married and had our families, they became our respective priorities. My eternal regret was that I was stuck here in London when my twin married, that day was tinged with joy and sadness because I thought I was losing her. Only a twin can understand the particular feeling, I felt in the morning as I strolled down to the local swimming pool.

I hope Ademola enjoys his birthday today for we will all continue to grow older as the years go by. I draw from Laurence Binyon in saying: that Folashade shall not grow old, age shall not weary her, nor the years contend with her.

I end and say that at the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember her.

Happy Birthday Ademola!
